What is ResurFX™?

ResurFX™is an FDA-approved, non-ablative fractional laser used for skin rejuvenation. This state-of-the-art laser is used to improve skin texture, laxity, tone, while diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, scars, and stretch marks. The energy from the laser stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastic fibers in the deeper layers of the skin so that you can achieve more radiant, youthful looking skin. Since ResurFX™ is a non-ablative laser, the surface of the skin is not damaged meaning that there is minimal downtime.

Based off of your unique skin analysis, Dr. Liu will customize your treatment plan to achieve the best results. ResurFX™ is ideally suited to improve the following skin conditions:

Commonly asked questions

Does Dr. Liu perform the ResurFX™ treatment herself?

Dr. Liu performs all of the ResurFX™ treatments herself (not a nurse or aesthetician). Since Dr. Liu is a surgeon and an expert in anatomy, she can more accurately adjust the settings and target the right areas to achieve the best result for you. 

How many ResurFX™ treatments will I need?

Depending on the condition of your skin, typically 3 to 5 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart are recommended to achieve optimal results. 

How long does a ResurFX™ treatment take?

The total time required for a ResurFX™ treatment is typically less than an hour including the application of numbing cream prior to the laser treatment. The ResurFX™ treatment can also be combined with other procedures at the same visit.

What can I expect after a ResurFX™ treatment?

There is very little downtime after a ResurFX™ treatment and many people can return to their normal activities the same day.  You may experience some redness and swelling, which should subside in a few days and the skin may feel rough for one to two weeks after treatment. After the treatment, you will see an improvement in your skin that continues to develop over time and greater improvement is seen with each additional treatment. 

How long will the results last?

The results of the ResurFX™ treatments can be maximized and extended with good skin care. We offer a complimentary consultation with our aesthetician after you have completed your treatment series to design an individualized skin care regimen. With proper skin care, you can expect your results to last up to 2 years and maintenance treatments can be performed as needed to keep your skin looking youthful.

How much does a ResurFX™ treatment cost?

It is difficult to provide pricing before a patient has had a consultation with Dr. Liu. The cost can vary depending on the areas treated and the number of treatments needed. Dr. Liu will recommend the optimal treatment regimen customized for you at your consultation.

Is the ResurFX™ treatment safe?

Possible side effects of treatment include swelling, redness, scarring, and change in pigmentation, all of which are usually temporary. Although ResurFX™ treatments are non-surgical procedures, improper administration increases your risk of developing potential complications (i.e. burns and scarring). Your ResurFX™ treatment should only be performed by a licensed, experienced professional.
